Instructor Management

The instructor record holds personal details, contact information, subject area, position and education. An emergency contact is also recorded, along with their relationship. An instructor with an assignment end date cannot stay active.

Account and permissions

• Start and end dates of the assignment are kept. Assigned classes and the courses taught appear on a separate tab, and classes that come from courses are marked separately.
• A login account is created for the instructor. With the ready-made Instructor role, they can handle course, exam, homework, attendance, behavior and survey tasks.
• Instructors see only the students and parents of the classes they are assigned to. Exam, attendance, homework and course actions are limited to their own courses.
• Birthdays appear on the calendar.
• A headcount limit is set on a position definition, for example 1 person for principal. The number of people assigned is shown in the list. Clicking the number opens the instructors in that position.
• A position can be marked "can receive messages from parents". This is how the school management that parents can write to is determined.
• Instructors can write to the parents of students in their own classes and to school management. They can turn off receiving messages with a switch.
• Salary information can be entered and is protected by the "Salary information" permission. In expenses, when an instructor with a recorded salary is selected, the amount fills in automatically.

Adding a new instructor

1. In New Instructor, enter the details, position and subject area. For example Course Instructor, Physics.
2. Create the account by giving a username and password.
3. Assign classes and courses, for example class 9-A and the Physics course.

For institutions that employ salaried or hourly instructors. An instructor can work without seeing all of the institution's data. You decide what they see through their role.
